Is Mitsubishi competitive enough to beat the ever reliable Honda and Toyota?

Honda and Toyota always come at the Top of the Consumers' and Editor's Most Wanted list. I think Mitsubishi is just underrated. I need to know if there are lots of people out there who agree with me.
